Western Digital (WD) officially released their latest hard drive with capacity of 3 terabytes (TB). It said the product is a hard drive with the largest capacity on the market.

Indeed WD is quite fast in the release of hard disk variants among computer users. A vendor which is based in the United States also hosts a series of new products that target various groups, such as the latest WD Caviar Green 3TB.

Computer’s internal hard drives with 3TB capacity is not yet widely found in the market, WD even claimed that they were the first vendor to have the product.

“WD has always been the first, and now we finished first in the world to release a computer’s internal hard drive capacity of 3TB,” claims, Albert Chang, Mobile Business Development Manager for Asia Pacific.

In addition to having the largest capacity in its class, the WD Caviar Green 3TB also has a fairly sophisticated technology, such as the use of (Serial Advanced Technology Attachment) SATA version 3.0.

The version is claimed could transfer data at up to 6Gigabit (Gb) per second. This means double the previous version (version 2.0) which only can shoot as many as 3 Gb/second of data.

“We had time to compare with other hard drives that still use the SATA 2.0. And the result, the WD Caviar Green 3TB has performed up to 17 percent faster,” said Chang.

But there are other factors to consider when the user intends to propose this product. Because the WD Caviar Green 3TB not supported by all operating systems.

“WD Caviar Green 3TB is not compatible with Windows XP, Vista or 7 32-bit version, so I recommend to use Windows 7 64bit. But for Mac or Linux users can use this product as usual,” added Chang.
